TOMMI - German Children's Software Award 202120th award ceremony: the 2021 winners have been chosen
After extensive testing: over 1,600 children and young people in around 20 libraries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland decided on this year's winners of the German Children's Software Award TOMMI.
The awards, which were held for the 20th time, were broadcast live for the second time on KiKA - also on kika.de and in the KiKA player.

The Germany-wide media project TOMMI is under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Christine Lambrecht, and is published by FEIBEL.DE - Büro für Kindermedien (Berlin). Partners of the award are the Auerbach Foundation, biblioplay, the German Library Association (dbv), Dein Spiegel, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Familie & Co, the Frankfurt Book Fair, Google, jugendschutz.net, KiKA, mobilsicher.de, Partner & Söhne and ZDF.
TOMMI provides orientation for children and parents
Patron and Federal Minister for Family Affairs Christine Lambrecht: "Playing should be fun, even in the digital world. At the same time, children must not be confronted with content that could frighten them. The German Children's Software Award TOMMI gives children and parents guidance on which games are entertaining and bring joy.
And you can rely on that, because in the TOMMI children's jury, the youngest children themselves decide which games win a prize.

New: Games & Accessibility
For the first time, ten nominated PC games were tested for accessibility at the German Children's Software Award TOMMI in close cooperation with the inclusive project of the Fachstelle für Jugendmedienkultur NRW Gaming ohne Grenzen. Twenty young people with and without disabilities tested which games were suitable for this purpose. Townscaper" by Raw Fury was particularly convincing.
Nothing works at TOMMI without public libraries
"Also in the second Corona year," says TOMMI initiator Thomas Feibel, "the libraries have made everything possible to carry out the test phase with children and young people with a well thought-out hygiene concept. We are particularly pleased that the TOMMI 2021 was awarded on the "Day of Libraries"."
Special Award Kindergarten & Preschool // TOMMI Promotion Award Kindergarten
Once again, Prof. Dr. Stefan Aufenanger, media educator at the University of Mainz, conducted the special kindergarten & preschool award.
The kindergarten children voted for "Unser Sandmännchen App.
The TOMMI Förderpreis Kindergarten will not be awarded again until 2022.
