The TOMM 2023 nominees have been chosen - now it's the turn of the children's and youth jury!

TOMMI Receives Child Protection Award // The 2023 TOMMI Nominees Have Been Announced // New: Youth Award for Education
On September 28, 2023, in Hamburg, the TOMMI Children’s Software Award was honored with the2023 HanseMerkur Prize for Child Protectionfor exceptional achievements in the field of child and youth protection. “At a time,” the citation reads, “when digital media are playing an increasingly important role in children’s lives, it is crucial that parents and educators be able to identify high-quality offerings. The TOMMI Children’s Software Award not only promotes good digital products but also fosters children’s media literacy.” In addition, the award recognizes the exemplary commitment to educating, empowering, and highlighting the opportunities offered by digital media through positive means. TOMMI founder Thomas Feibel commented: “We are very pleased to receive the HanseMerkur Award for Child Protection, as this recognition honors the social commitment of public libraries in the field of digital education. By teaching media literacy through TOMMI, they ensure prevention, safety, and protection for children and young people.”
The TOMMInates 2023
The expert jury for the TOMMI Children’s Software Award has also reached its decision (click here for an overview and the jury’s rationale). Now, children and teens in over 50 libraries across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are forming their own opinions and deciding which apps, PC and console games, electronic toys, and educational offerings will receive the TOMMI Award. New this year is the Youth Education Award, specifically for teens aged 12 and older.
