The 2023 winners have been announced, and TOMMI has received the Child Protection Award
For two months, 4,238 children and young people in over 50 libraries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland puzzled and puzzled to find the best games and educational offers for children and young people at the TOMMI 2023 children's software award. The brand-new "Education Youth Award" category, which targets young people aged 12 and over with serious content, was a recent addition. An expert jury had previously determined the nominations. The winners have now been announced.
At the awards ceremony on December 3, 2023, the winners were announced as part of the media magazine “Team Timster” on KiKA, at kika.de and on the KiKA Player.
The top finishers in the following categories are:
- Apps: Mayority (WOTI World of Tomorrow Institute GmbH)
- PC: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake (THQ Nordic)
- Console: Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (Nintendo)
- Youth Game Award: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Nintendo)
- Electronic Toys: Hey Clay (TOMY)
- Education: Flik Flak – The Adventure of Time (Swatch AG/Fox and Sheep)
- Youth Education Award: Facts & Fakes 2 (Deutsche Telekom Foundation)
- TOMMI Inclusive: Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged (Milestone) and Animal Facts Puzzle (SWR)

Child Safety Award for TOMMI
In September, the German Children’s Software Award TOMMI was honored with the HanseMerkur Award for Child Protection. According to the citation, TOMMI is a “pioneering initiative that actively involves children and young people and empowers them to navigate the digital world with confidence.” This also recognized the work of public libraries, which play a key role in teaching media literacy and in prevention efforts.
