funk is the youth channel in the ARD and ZDF network. The new format “f.im.chat” is a joint production by funk and KiKA and thus builds a bridge to gently introduce KiKA’s older target audience to funk. This has resulted in funny and thought-provoking clips about viewers’ own media habits. “f.im.chat” is aimed at 13- to 15-year-olds who use social media on a daily basis,” the press release states, “—mostly without supervision or guidance from parents, school, or their social circles. They don’t want to be lectured and feel confident using their cell phones and social media. They want to be entertained and have a say in trends; although they are often aware of the problems and dangers of the internet, they tend to ignore them.”
