Here’s what the expert jury had to say: With “Anno 1800,” one of the best city-building games returns to its roots after a foray into the future. Little has changed in terms of gameplay. The goal is to explore new territories and build up simple village communities at first, then increasingly complex economic systems. In the process, the Old World—Europe—drives trade with the New World in America. And because steam power has already been invented, there are complex machines and factories with large smokestacks. One thing, however, has remained constant over the years and across versions: as a player, you can lose yourself wonderfully in this miniature world.
