“Berlin History” shows the immediate consequences of World War II for the city. Through maps, videos, and photos, the app vividly depicts Berlin in ruins shortly after the war ended. The before-and-after images, in particular—where users can switch between historical and modern views using a slider—are truly striking. A great interactive feature: Anyone who discovers the corresponding locations in Berlin can take their own photos, upload them to the app, and submit them to the app’s operator.

Ages 10 and up

Critical note from mobilsicher.de: During testing, the app established internet connections to three different analytics services and transmitted, among other things, information about app usage and the device being used, but no personally identifiable data. The services in question are Crashly$cs (by Google), App Measurement (by Google), and Visual Studio AppCenter (formerly HockeyApp, by Microsoft).
