2026 Games Awards
1st place – Split Fiction – Electronic Arts
Here’s what the TOMMI Youth Jury has to say: “Split Fiction” wins the TOMMI because it’s a truly extraordinary adventure. We play as two authors who suddenly find themselves trapped inside their own fantasy and sci-fi stories. To escape, we have to work as a team of two to jump through different worlds, solve puzzles, defeat enemies, save ourselves from danger, and sometimes even reverse gravity. It’s just an awesome co-op game.
Here’s what the expert jury had to say: “Split Fiction” is a creative explosion of co-op gameplay: Two players constantly switch between fantasy and sci-fi, with the story driven by the characters Mio and Zoe. Strong from a media education perspective: Local and online co-op promotes communication, timing, and shifting perspectives. Thanks to Friend’s Pass, a single license is all you need, and the game is playable across platforms. The extensive accessibility settings lower barriers to entry: individually adjustable difficulty levels per player (e.g., reduced damage), skippable sections and checkpoints, freely assignable buttons, a customizable camera, broad controller support, and separate profiles. High replay value thanks to role-specific challenges.
