Here’s what the TOMMI Kids’ Jury has to say: “Fiete World” should take second place at the TOMMI Awards, even though we’re actually way too old for it. But it’s really fascinating to play an open-world game. At first, all that freedom feels strange because there’s no story. But literally anything is possible: driving a tractor, cooking, brushing your teeth, and grilling sausages. There are weapons, but you can’t kill anyone. You can move everything around, which encourages you to experiment. Another great thing: Luckily, we don’t have to read anything.

Here’s what the expert jury says: Fiete whisks very young children away into a colorful, side-scrolling “hidden object” book filled with countless funny details to discover. There’s endless mischief to be had—a horse is turned into a tractor driver, or half the household’s belongings are flushed down the outhouse. But you can also tend a flower bed or bake a chocolate cake. And all of this takes place in Fiete’s rural home by the sea. Three additional scenarios—Treasure Island, France, and India—can be unlocked via in-app purchases if desired.
