2026 Games Awards
1st place - Scavenger hunt (Dennis Westermann)
Here’s what the youth jury says: “Schnitzeljägerei” wins the TOMMI because it’s a great game for treasure hunts. We hide small cards with QR codes and then take photos with clues so that others can search for and find these locations. For example, we searched for QR codes at the library. There’s always a section of an image that leads us to the next code. It took some effort, but that’s exactly what made it so much fun. Perfect for birthday parties.
Here’s what the expert jury had to say: A simple yet ingenious idea turns the smartphone into a toy and gets kids moving. With “Schnitzeljägerei,” a scavenger hunt from code card to code card is organized in no time, and the fun can begin. With a little luck, there’s even a reward waiting in the final hiding spot. With “Schnitzeljägerei,” kids get active and shape the game themselves according to their own ideas, instead of just passively following what’s happening on the screen. Along the way, they expand their media literacy.
