Here’s what the kids’ jury had to say:
The “Osmo Little Genius Starter Kit” won the TOMMI award because it’s a great mix of app and toy. We learned something while having a lot of fun at the same time. We like the graphics. Everything is explained very well and is kid-friendly. It’s especially good for first- and second-graders. But older kids also have fun playing with it. There are lots of colorful objects—for example, to form letters or dress a character in different outfits. We think it’s great that there are so many games.

Here’s what the expert jury has to say:
Even after years of Osmo products, their simple yet clever design continues to fascinate: A tablet is placed in the Osmo base, and a reflector is placed over the camera so that the game can track the area in front of the tablet. A mat placed there serves as a physical play surface, and its contents are projected into the respective app. The starter kit works with four of these—"Squiggle Magic" and "ABCs" use colorful rubber arches, rings, and sticks, included as additional play materials, which are arranged to form funny faces and letters. In “Stories” and “Costume Party,” a cardboard figure is outfitted with various legs, torsos, and headwear. Even though the apps and their games aren’t incredibly extensive and their educational value is modest, they—along with the game pieces—are quite well-designed; arranging the faces, in particular, is a lot of fun. Osmo remains an exemplary product when it comes to combining physical and digital play.
