3rd place - Endling - Extinction is Forever (Handy Games)

2022 | USK 12 | Winner

Here’s what the children’s jury had to say:
“Endling – Extinction is Forever” won the TOMMI Award because it realistically depicts, in a comic-book style, how animals’ habitats are threatened by humans’ irresponsible actions. In the game, we play as a female fox fleeing a forest fire who must protect and feed her cubs. Our favorite part of the interactive hunt was tracking. After one of the cubs is kidnapped, we set out on a search. A sad and somber mood pervades the entire game, which really makes you think. The most important thing is survival.

Here’s what the expert jury had to say:
In this survival adventure, players take on the role of a mother fox. In the hostile outside world, she must overcome obstacles, find food for her cubs, and avoid dangers. Along the way, she is also searching for one of her cubs, who has been kidnapped by a human. The other fox cubs accompany her on this journey. Players must teach them the skills they need to survive in the wild. The story is told in a very emotional way, and the audiovisual presentation is exceptionally well done. Players quickly find themselves immersed in the animals’ roles. Exciting and touching.
