All children are surely familiar with Janosch’s books about the tiger and the bear. However, the book is now being enhanced with so-called augmented reality. This means that small symbols have been added to the illustrations. After installing the corresponding app, children hold their smartphone or tablet over these symbols. The characters then come to life in the room, and the children have to complete small tasks. The app is very well designed, but you can also simply read the book without a smartphone or tablet. With the app, however, children learn about the many possibilities of digital media. This app effectively combines and fosters curiosity, entertainment, fun, and children’s interest in digital media.
