2nd place - The Wandering Village (Stray Fawn)
Here’s what the kids’ jury had to say: “The Wandering Village” took second place at TOMMI because the game has an incredibly awesome concept: We have to build a village on the back of a running dinosaur and make sure its inhabitants are well taken care of. We had to keep track of everything, manage our resources wisely, and make sure no one went without anything. We also like the graphics—they’re as imaginative as something straight out of a fantasy realm. We find the dinosaur totally mystical, legendary, and interesting. We’d definitely play it again—and next time, we’d be more careful not to let the villagers starve so quickly.”
Here’s what the expert jury had to say:A unique building game: Players must keep a human settlement running while perched on the back of a dragon. This can only be achieved if everyone works together hand in hand and each person does what they do best. The metaphor for our endangered Earth is clearly recognizable, yet it isn’t presented in an intrusive way. Rather, the game playfully illustrates that the players are on a creature that cannot be replaced, and that its demise would also mean the end of all life on it. It’s also impressive how this concept is visualized using minimal yet extremely effective means.
