PLACE 1: DKT Smart (Wiener Spielkartenfabrik/Piatnik)

2021 | Electronic Toys | Winners

Here’s what the kids’ jury has to say:
“DKT-Smart” wins the TOMMI award because it’s super fun and makes us think strategically and tactically. It’s a board game played with a tablet. We buy and bid on houses. The tablet rolls the dice and tells us which house or lot we can buy. It’s a good game for learning how to manage a fortune and spend money wisely. The roulette part is also fun because it’s a game of chance. We also like that we can play it with other kids.

Here’s what the expert jury had to say:
We’ve learned that DKT is by no means a Monopoly clone—rather, it’s played in Austria instead of Monopoly. DKT stands for “Das kaufmännische Talent” (Business Talent). The app is a modern complement to the board game and greatly enhances the fun of playing. DKT is a good example of how a well-designed app doesn’t replace a board game, but rather complements it. Children will have no trouble using the app, though we recommend installing it on a tablet.

Note from jugendschutz.net: Upon launch, the app requires users to enter an email address to register. This is not necessary to use the app.
