“Super Mario 3D World & Bowser’s Fury” wins the TOMMI because it’s a ton of fun to play and we can play it with friends and family. We love the design, the transformations, and the fact that we need quick reflexes. Bowser looks really cool when he’s super angry. The fact that Mario and Bowser Jr.—the good guy and the bad guy—team up is just WOW. When we play it, it feels like we’re really experiencing it ourselves.

This game was previously released for the Wii U and has now been re-released for the Switch with the add-on “Bowser’s Fury.” However, the game hasn’t lost any of its appeal: Mario hops, climbs, and transforms into a sugar-sweet cat. The second game is in a league of its own: Baby Bowser asks Mario for help in ridding the Velvet Paws Coast of the black slime. Together, the duo must defeat enemies, solve puzzles, navigate tricky sections, and face off against the gigantic Angry Bowser.
