“Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales” wins the TOMMI because the sound, graphics, story, and gameplay are perfectly balanced. As Miles Morales, we’re tasked with becoming the new Spider-Man. The tutorial—which is integrated into the story to teach you the combat moves—is especially great. The variety of moves and attacks makes it a real blast. It never gets boring, either, because there are always new enemies with new attacks. We think the developers did a great job of letting us really step into Miles’ shoes.

Just bring in a new Spider-Man and everything will be fine? It works with Miles Morales. He’s clumsy at first, causes helicopters to crash, and isn’t entirely blameless in the collapse of a bridge. But his slight clumsiness makes him likable and turns him into a normal person—who just happens to swing through the urban canyons of New York on spider-strings every now and then. With great visuals and solid entertainment, “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” is popcorn gaming that rarely gets boring. Great soundtrack.
