Here’s what the kids’ jury had to say: “Furby” took 2nd place at the TOMMI Awards because he’s like a real, huggable pet and he chats with us all the time. He’s always pulling funny faces, and when we tickle him, he laughs. His programming and design are totally cool. It’s fun just to watch him when his ears change colors. “Furby” is funny and cool, and even though he can dance and do lots of other things, we liked his ability to repeat what we say the best. Cuddling, playing, communicating—Furby just puts us in a good mood.

Here’s what the expert jury says:The ’90s are back, and the new edition of Furby is a must-have. The chattering robotic fantasy creature is now more colorful, fluffier, more articulate, and more interactive than ever before. No matter what adults say: At TOMMI, what matters is what the kids like. And there’s no denying it: When the toy opens its big, round eyes for the first time and wiggles its big ears, even as an adult you can’t help but think: That’s pretty cute.
