3rd place - Bitzee (Spin Masters)

Here’s what the kids’ jury had to say: “Bitzee” won 3rd place at the TOMMI Awards because it’s a virtual pet—like a Tamagotchi—in a little purple box that we can easily take with us anywhere. We have lots of different Bitzees, and we have to make sure they’re all doing well and take good care of them. When we take good care of them, the Bitzees evolve. It’s a lot of fun and is especially great for playing on the side. The toy is really cute, and from a technical standpoint, it looks kind of crazy. And you can achieve so much with so little.

Here’s what the expert jury had to say:Opening the Bitzee Box for the first time and seeing the hologram-like puppy is a unique gaming experience. Older users will be reminded of a Tamagotchi, with the difference that you can actually pet the digital pet offered by Bitzee. With gentle hand movements to the left and right, you can lull it to sleep. And if you take good care of the animal, you’ll be able to play mini-games with it over time. There are a total of 14 different animals—including a unicorn—that you can attract. Amazingly diverse.
