Here’s what the kids’ jury had to say:
“Nintendo Switch Sports” won the TOMMI award because it’s simply the perfect party game. Our goal is to score as many points as possible and never give up. We were moving our whole bodies and sweating the entire time we played—just like in real sports. We can play real tennis, kick the ball for real in soccer, and even spike and dig in volleyball. We play these sports in our free time, too. In addition to the selection of sports, we’re especially excited about the multiplayer mode.

On the Wii console, “Nintendo Sports” became one of the most successful games of all time—and conversely, thanks to this title, the Wii became one of the best-selling consoles. This simple sports spectacle is also great fun to play on the Switch (without demanding excessive precision from players), and the six different disciplines—tennis, bowling, badminton, volleyball, soccer, and the martial art Chanbara—provide plenty of variety. Earning experience points and unlocking items to customize your character also motivates you to keep pushing for new personal bests.
