2026 Games Awards
PLACE 3: Townscaper (Raw Fury)
2021 | PC | Winner
Here’s what the kids’ jury has to say:
“Townscaper” wins the TOMMI because it’s cool and different. Our task is to build our own dream city on an island in the water. The game is very calm and super relaxing—there’s no rush. It’s just fun to build the city in whatever colors we want. We can really go wild with the colors. We can also build it really wide or really tall. Sometimes we’re even surprised by how a house or tower keeps growing and growing. The idea is just great and creative.
Here’s what the expert jury had to say:
It’s easy to fall in love with the city-building game “Townscaper.” You don’t need sophisticated resource management or complicated controls to keep creating new dream cities. With every click, the city grows: a small house becomes a large one, a low building becomes a tall one, several buildings form a street, then a neighborhood, and what starts as a village eventually becomes an entire city. And everything players build looks harmonious and beautiful. A game without any rush or stress.
Here’s what Gaming Ohne Grenzen has to say:
“Although ‘Townscaper’ doesn’t have a tutorial, our jury members were able to master the controls after a little trial and error. The controls and gameplay are kept simple, ensuring that the game is easily playable for people with cognitive and motor impairments. Since no game-relevant content is conveyed through sound, our young players with hearing impairments also enjoyed playing‘Townscaper.’
If the game also offered a sans-serif font and made the menu larger, it would have impressed us even in the fourth category, ‘Vision.’”
