2026 Games Awards
3rd place - Jars (Daedalic Entertainment)
Here’s what the kids’ jury has to say:
“Jars” won the TOMMI award because it’s funny, exciting, and even a little creepy. We go down to the basement with Viktor and open mason jars. Sometimes there are creepy crawlies inside, which we then defeat with our “allies.” It’s really crazy when we use a mosquito to take down a dangerous spider. The beetle with the toilet paper roll is also really funny and coolly drawn. We often have to react really quickly. It’s precisely because it’s hectic and a little unpredictable that “Jars” is so much fun.
Here’s what the expert jury had to say:
“Jars” is a tower defense game set in an unusual environment: Each level features a basement shelf filled with storage jars. Inside these jars are pests like spiders, dung beetles, and rats, against which players must defend themselves using darts, friendly mosquitoes, or hedgehogs. The game requires quick reflexes rather than skill. It never gets truly tricky in the early levels, and you can complete each one without giving it much thought. The fantastic design keeps surprising you with funny or whimsical details. A beautifully designed, slightly spooky game.
